For me, the IBE event is probably the best on the calendar because its the most well rounded of contests. Sub events like the longest bboy move, footwork and power move battles are all catered for. Here are links to the meatier part of the event..the battles. I have seen the first battle around 6 times as some of the transitions into the moves are moves in themselves, making some of the bboys flow more than others. Im still trying to absorb it now!

The editorial content is quality, but the overview of artists is pretty mind blowing. As Felix Braun states clearly in the foreward: “This, then, is the story of Brisol’s Graffiti as told by those who know it best –the artists- and charts its development form the early 1980’s through to the present day.”
I do often complain about the lack of texts in graffiti books. But this book is full of interviews, portraits and stories about the city. Moreover the texts are interesting and the writer confessions sound incredibly sincere. What is interesting is that Bristol graffiti History is quite similar to many other cities, with the old timers starting graffiti after watching “Wild Style” for example. So even if you have never been to Bristol I think this book will talk to you
This book is too big to fit through most letterboxes, so you may want to get it delivered to a work address or somewhere where you can catch the postie.

Im a huge fan of the music in these films. Infact, sharp eared listeners can catch samples on these LPs used by Suspekt for tracks on the Dead Men Walking LP.
The first Lp has some dialogue from the film , but what film OST doesnt?
Great selection of funk, jazz, and smooth grooves on these lps.
David Holmes original compositions are awesome.
13 is the obvious stand out lp here.

Dusty Fingers vol 15
These fantastic comps comprise of full length original tunes from the 60s & 70s that have been sampled by hip-hop producers and artists. Depending on your knowledge of hiphop/rap, you may recognise some (or all!) of the samples used.
But the best thing about these LPs is that you don't have to recognise any of the samples or even like rap music to appreciate the killer tunes on these LPs. Every bloody track is an absolute killer - containing lovely grooves, mad, mad beats, library music tracks and tracks from obscure 60s/70s soundtracks.
If you appreciate quality grooves then I can't recommend these highly enough.

Blacklist 1.5 got the full flavour of italian graffiti. This DVD contains live train writing, interviews with Mind and Rusty, a little view on the legal work at BN party, rolling trains from the ML’S. Guaranteed train and metro actions in Milano, aswell as a little visit in New York and nice oldschool footage from 1990 in Milano. Blacklist describes the graffiti scene with footage of todays rolling panels and of back in the days, together with nice interviews, subbed in English) this DVD will show u some insight on Milano and the Italian graffiti dream. Some smooth slideshows with many nice flicks rounds up the whole project, and allows a chilled DVD session to fade out.

DJ Para- Smack my pitch up 2009
DJing and production both come naturally to Para and he's been involved in all elements of hip hop in his home town of Swindon, from the late 80's. After experimenting with all elements of the genre he focused on DJing in the early 90's, beginning with a series of Mix -tapes which he would hand out locally. These developed into a series of cut and paste mixes that took the idea him to the next level. He was soon recognised as the South West's finest turntablist, battling all comers and always coming out on top.As any good DJ does, Para complemented his skills with a love for digging breaks and finding records other DJ's couldn't pull out. This led naturally into the realms of production and when Breakin Bread heard his own beats they knew they had to sign him.
This mix takes the golden era of hip hop and gives it a fresh update for 2009. Para takes elements from classic hip hop tracks, layering new school beats over mid school hip hop music and adding classic raps. The result is a free flowing mash up that is held together by Para's skills on the blends, cuts and scratches.
