Kings of Hip Hop- Dj Premier and Mr Thing 2005
The Kings of... series pays homage not to ‘lost’ musical genres but to music that ‘fits’ within a specific genre which may have either been forgotten, or that may only now be remembered for the first time and compiled by two artists mad on music who choose their top tracks of the moment.
For the third in the ‘Kings Of ..’ series, over two mixed CDs, emjoy a journey into the music that helped ‘shape’ what we know as Hip Hop today (CD 1), and a journey into the music shaped by that music (CD 2).
Weird choice of tunes by Premo if you ask me on the first disc, but Thing slams on the second disc. The first tune is one of my all time faves by smith n wessun. Slammin mix. Props to HHB on the link up.

Piece by Piece
Dir. Nic Hill US 2005. 78mins
Piece by Piece is a groundbreaking film that documents San Francisco's highly controversial graffiti art movement. The story offers an intimate journey into the most intriguing and misunderstood artistic movement of modern youth culture by detailing the last 20 years of San Francisco graffiti art. The film explores the history of graffiti in other parts of the country and elaborates on how San Francisco became an international magnet for innovative graffiti styles yet to be seen in other parts of the world. It also examines the wide range of public opinion towards this admittedly illegal art form by giving a voice to the citizens of San Francisco and law enforcement officers. The film captures the artists' heartfelt confessions of their love and addiction to graffiti art and typographic lettering, as well as their social activism and the short life span of their work.
one of my personal graff film faves.

The film follows the world famous TATS CRU as they produce their mural for The Graffiti Hall of Fame in Harlem and prepare to uphold their title of “The Mural Kings.” Inter-cut with exclusive interviews detailing the journey that started twenty-five years ago, as three Bronx teenagers began their artistic careers by creating subway graffiti.

Reefer Madness DVD rip
Reefers are refridgerated box cars. This film took nearly 6 years to make as it follows Canadain artist FATSO on an understanding of what makes the frieght yards similar to the subway yards. The main difference is, the freights travel all over the USA rather than being restricte to a single city.
This film will appeal to ANY writer and is a great documentary.

Mystik Journeymen: selected joints
Founders of the East Oakland underground collective Living Legends, PSC and BFAP formed as Mystik Journeymen in 1992. Southern Californian PSC hooked up with BFAP in Oakland while visiting a girlfriend, and later moved to join the group (at the time, it included a few other rappers who later drifted away). The pair became local legends by 1994, throwing parties (Underground Surivivors) and selling mixtapes. One year later, the Grouch began contributing and, after hitting the road doing shows as far away as Europe, Mystik Journeymen formed the Living Legends crew with new recruits including 3 Melancholy Gypsys (aka Murs, Eligh, and Scarub), Moonrocks (aka Bicasso and Nebulus), Aesop, and Arata. The duo's label, LLCrew, had begun releasing records by 1995, and Mystik Journeymen released a parade of LPs during the next few years, highlighted by 1995's 4001: The Stolen Legacy and 1996's Pressed 4 Time. (They'd also expanded their touring base to include the Far East and Australia.) By 1999, the crew had moved from the Bay Area to Los Angeles and with The Black Sands ov Eternia, began releasing records through Outhouse/Revenge. In 2002 Mystik Journeymen finally released a glimpse of their justly praised concert show with the LP Living Legends: Live, and their ninth album, Magic, followed late that year.
The Mystics feature on the track "MC Pretend", which was from the first Suspekt LP which is available to download here

DJ Jay Glaze and Pro Celeb Golf- 3 Sinister Syllables
Welocme to one of the most esoteric and hands-down mindblowing mix cd’s you will ever have the pleasure of hearing. For the mix think Edward G. Robinson, Brass Eye, Larry David, Woody Allen, Bob Hoskins from ‘The Long Good Friday’, through to the exotic, fantastic and just plain unknown. Pop from all territories: neglected fourth albums, Japanese soul breaks, Israeli eurovision b-sides, country & western beats, obscure latin, hirsute eastern european songstresses, late sixties South African beats, swedish pop - all subjected to discerning ears and deft fingers. And for hardcore breaks’ nuts there’s pleasures still more intense - check the Tribute to MF Doom; an inspiration since KMD days, here’s all the original source material for the classic ‘Operation Doomsday’LP, and further breaks employed by MADVILLAIN, Special Herbs, Monsta Island Czars, MF(GM) Grimm and King Geedorah all surfacing in an unashamed homage to the man. Over two years in the making, it just doesn’t get any better. Genius.
Fans of the Lessons series and cut and paste style mash up will eat this LP up.

Graffiti Instincts 2005 dvdrip
This great DVD is totally dedicated to high quality graffiti wall productions. Most of the DVD's nowadays are action oriented and don't show the production of large murals and colorful pieces. Graffiti Instincts corrects this situation with an awesome line-up of artists, such as Dare, Mist, Scien & Klor, Ogre, Reso1, Jazi, Yoda, Los Extralargos and many more!! This DVD will show you the evolution of 18 pieces and productions, from the very beginning to the end. Very nice to see advanced painting techniques as well! The extras feature 10 more videos on the basics of graffiti (caps, techniques, characters..) So you can learn a lot with this DVD, or you can simply sit back and enjoy the show with the best writers of France and other European countries such as Germany, Belgium, Spain and Switzerland. All forms of graffiti writing are shown by the select writers, tags, throw up's, wildstyles, 3d, characters and designs.
It takes off directly where "The future of Graffiti" DVD left us.
One of my fave dvds in my collection, as I get fed up of seeing dvds about bombing, train damage, and breaking into train yards. Theres too many out there, and this is something different..
